Okay, this will be a work in progress, but here's the closest I have to schools and alignments for private schools and independents for 2012. T-CAL and TCAF have not announced final districts, so I'll just identify them by Divisions for now.

There WILL be changes. Plans fall through, teams don't materialize. And I know there will be some group/school that comes out of nowhere, ready to play (maybe even several weeks into the season). So, write these in pencil, because they WILL change.

Granger has most of these schools in the system ... please note there is a difference between a couple schools:

SAN ANTONIO River City Believers (in the system as SA Believers), TAPPS D2 school is different from SAN ANTONIO River City Christian (in as SA River City), a T-CAL D2 school. To make it more confusing, RC Believers plays its home games at the River City Christian field.

MAGNOLIA Legacy Prep Christian (new school, TAPPS D2) is different from HUMBLE Legacy Christian School (independent; new school).

Also, AUSTIN Hill Country Christian (TAPPS D1) is a different school than SAN MARCOS Hill Country Christian (TAPPS D2). Both good schools, but not the same management.

Why is Ft. Hancock still independent? Is their enrollment too large to play 6 man and they are wanting to remain? I thought they were independent last year and would return this year.

Must be ... they are listed as Division I in 1A basketball (district 7 with El Paso da Vinci, Wink, Van Horn, Iraan, McCamey); another UIL chart shows enrollment as 166.

Would be nice to publish a list of system names, to prevent confusion later on . . .

Problem is, Pete, most private schools operate as independent entities. Only exception might be the Catholic Schools, which usually operate under an education department at the Diocese level, but then again, there are Catholic Schools which do operate outside of those formal departments. For example, right now, there's a little controversy in the San Antonio archdiocese education department -- they want to close two schools, merge them into a third and move it into an unused former seminary on San Antonio's east side. It's eaten up a lot of front-page newspaper ink with folks lamenting the loss of their "parish school."

A number of private schools are stand-alone entities (both those which are church-based and those which are secular in scope) but most operate as a ministry of a supporting church. Some have set up the school as a separate legal entity, but that's not really germaine to this discussion.

Drop me a PM and I'll send you a revised list of schools, addresses ... I probably should try and update the list with websites, etc. But that'd take some time ...

Will need to update this list with closures, etc. during the summer. For now, Amarillo Arbor Christian is off the list and there are a couple rumored not to make it to the fall.

Sounds like Carrollton Christian Academy is moving from crowded field to 6 man this fall ... looking for games (see games wanted topic)

Why isn't Huntsville Alpha Omega listed on TAPPS website? They have left them off of District 5.

Not sure on Alpha Omega ... will check when the TAPPS office reopens next week.

Of course, Richardson Canyon Creek Christian joins the TAPPS independents list; I probably need to update this list sometime soon with the closures/drops/adds.

I believe you can DELETE Dickinson Pine Drive, TAPPS Div. II District 5 from the 2012-13 List....


I heard they've shut down ALL athletics, but will try and keep the doors open with 34 total kids in grades Pre K3 - 12.
A total of 9 kids in grades 7-12......

Guess now I will have to hate on another Alvin Living Stones opponent....
