Re: Former TAPPS D1 Players at the College Level
Looks like Robert Ramsay from DII Fredericksburg Heritage led Wheaton College in sacks last year and was named 2nd team all conference as a DE. I guess there is a place for the 6-man boys. And Wheaton is a great school.

That's awesome. Which Wheaton College is it?
I am a firm believer in walk on tryouts. It makes the boys feel so much better about themselves after they have earned their spot. Anyone in the 6man ranks could probably find some place to try out. I'd also rather let/have some other coach tell a student of mine that he's as good/not as good as his dad says he is. The old baseball coach from Tarleton told me he gave anyone a try out that would ask just for that reason. We have had several top guys from here go to college only to find out they weren't as prepared/good as they thought.
There isn't a recruiting stigma agains't 6man players. There is just a HUGE difference between what is required to play 6man in HS and what is required to play 11man at the college level. I think it would be wiser for 6man stars to pursue track team spots. That's just me.

Wheaton College outside of Chicago (NCAA D-3). As for young Mr. Ramsey, I believe he's also a pretty smart kiddo. His daddy wasn't too short in the smarts department ... he's a family physician in Freddy land, and was named Texas FP of the year a few years back. And if I remember right, you had to be able to do a little more than simple addition and such to get into Wheaton. Or at least you did back in my day.
