Can someone copy and paste the district alignments? I'm using my phone and can't see the pdf file. I would greatly appreciate it!

Post Re: 30 minutes away from Realignment 2010
Only had time for a quick glance and that's all it took to see two things reach out at me:
first, there are going to be some extremely boring district races next year. Having two divisions is going to reveal a severe case of anemia, overall; second, next year's (2011) all-star game will be much more competitive with the addition of Strawn, RS and Calvert players to D-ll. That will be some consolation.

I really like the western half in D-l. There are a solid seven or eight teams, besides the champs who could be serious contenders next year. It's goin' to be real hairy in the West!!

I don't know how they justify it, usually, but placing Throckmorton opposite GC is a no-brainer for that category of sixman fan who desires a potential best championship matchup. Won't be no anti-climactic championship game next year...on paper (pardon the Eng.). Don't mean to slight the rest of the troop...just stating one possibility. And I can't help but think that millions of students at schools like Bloomburg, Santa Anna, Saint Jo, and Evant will payoff eventually, right?
But, truthfully, if I was T'Rocks staff I would be tickled pink. This is the second time Coach Reed has been able to separate himself from the favored team, giving him a better chance of getting to that highest pinnacle. He must be related to whomever's in charge of pushing those pins onto the map.  But, what were Billy's infamous words in Young Guns, "many a slip twinx the cup and the lip".

D-ll East will be a war, too. Again their are six or eight tuff, tuff teams including Strawn, Woodson, RS and Calvert. It appears more wide open on the West side.

It's going to be an exciting year across the Lone Star State!!

You would think that in Div 2 District 8/9 would have been flipped. But who knows.

Thanks hh sowls. I rarely understand their thought process, but I'm not the brightest tack in the freezer. Lol. With that being said, can anyone explain why coolidge isn't in district 14 where their average road trip would be 30 minutes? Wjere as in 13 they will be traveling atleast 2 hours for a couple of those games? I know the districts r low in numbers but it would make much more sense and not hurt district 13 too bad. Not a coolidge fan, just thought that seems odd.

Speaking of All-star games looks like the D1 East vs. West game might be a little lopsided in 2011 in favor of the West

I'm referring to the game out in Garden City, D-l versus D-ll. :|

By the way, I missed the scoop on Ft. Hancock...why are'nt they included. Did they return to eleven-man?

They never had the numbers to go six man anyway.

I did notice that Marathon did not even attempt to play football this time around. How much longer will that school be able to stay open?

Post Re: 30 minutes away from Realignment 2010
Well, I have waited awhile to weigh in on the latest Reclassification and Realignment by the UIL. Trying to let it all sink in before saying too much. I thought that I was not a fan of BYES and I think I am still not however I am not too keen on four team districts (or less which seems inevitable) either. What do you do?

It appears there are a few messes in what has been done but again, what do you do? I have taken far more shots at the UIL over the years than what the law allows but I must say I am glad they are calling the shots and not me. I have enough people that detest me without taking on that kind of burden. The question remains, what can you do?

This year I believe was a bit more complicated with the schools that dropped from D1 to D2. Yes, there is an equal split in the teams in each Division. 64 D1 schools and 66 D2 schools as it stands right now with a few days left for appeals. BTW, Mr. Mark Cousins has told me the official cutoff number was 50.5. On or about February 19th you can go to the UIL site on the web and see the OFFICIAL realignment along with the offical snapshot attendance numbers that were turned in back in October. Again the appeal process is open now.

In my mind, a few answers as to what can you do would be 1) Drop the two Divisions routine. I am not in favor of that. Just an answer as to what could have been done. Classes A and AA have both gone to the D1 and D2 business and it could eventually go all the way down to 5A. I don't see Six-Man going backwards, not now. 2) Keep the byes and try not to go to 4 team districts. Those are short answers as to the what can you do question.

I have only talked to a few coaches since the landscape changed on February 1 but those I have talked to seem to be pretty excited. I am sure there are some coaches that feel they have been punched in the stomach. Let's see, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, time will tell, yippie! dang it!!, we will just have to take it one game at a time,..............fill in the blank.

As always, see my signature line.

The Lohn Eagles as it stands now are in Division 2 District 15. Other members of this district are Brookesmith, Cherokee, Mullin, and Richland Springs. We are still in the appeal timing right now so it is still not 100% official although this is most likely the way te new district will shape up.

I vented about the 4 team or less district's on the thread 4 team district's on 6 manfootball talk. Had this fleeting thought afterwards. UIL takes cue from NFL. All districts will be 4 or 5 teams and each team will play it's district opponents twice (a chance for revenge if you get beat the 1st time). No I haven't been sniffing the Devil Dentist's laughing gas or sippin' Goob's evercleer.

You might not be dippin' into either of those fine gentlemen's choice of hooch, but maybe the UIL folks were.

BTW, I was watching the FSN SW realignment show ... only "bye" district in the entire realignment was in Six Man D-1.
