To play or not to play, that is the question.

The Linglevile ISD board of trustees have for months been exploring the possibility of adding six-man football as a school-sanctioned sport. After much debate, it appears board members will soon cast a deciding vote on the matter.

Seems I'd be having this debate in the fall or previous spring ... realignment is next week, right?

Tough starting a program from nothing. Alot of injuries and forfeits before any success.

Maybe some of the other schools in the area that only play basketball will follow suit. I doubt it, but who knows!!! It will be difficult for Lingleville like EDDIE G. says tey will have far more difficulty initially than success. As the old sayin goes, Good things come to those who wait.

But you gotta start somewhere; I doubt if they'll have any more success waiting a few more years.

I can tell you from personal experience, you may be lucky and win the first game (we were able to help a program do that in our second year, their first) ... but it is going to take a couple years of hitting and getting hit to figure out how you can work hard and get to do more hitting than getting hitting.

From new programs I've seen, it takes at least a couple years for "basketball schools" (aka non-football, commie loving places) to understand the necessity of year-round conditioning, weight training, and the like to be truly competitive in six man (or for that matter, crowded field) football.

We had a recent organizational meeting for our TAPPS six man football district and a couple schools were on the fence about competing in district vs playing an "independent" or JV schedule (like there are a lot of JV six man schools around here). We convinced both of those schools that the best course of action was to jump in the deep end of the pool and go ahead and play a varsity district schedule. Sure, there will be some tough games and short nights (but then again, half of the six man games end by the 45 rule), but you get them under your belt now and in a couple years, you're a competitive squad.

Is it their intention to play this season? If so obviously outlaw or they are appealing to the UIL?
Great! Welcome aboard.

Just spoke with Superintendent there. YES! They voted the sport in last night and will play outlaw for next couple of seasons. He stated there are around 13 young men that expressed interest as far as high school and around 22 in Jr. High. He says they turned in an enrollment number of 52. I am excited to see another program start up.
