polls.
LIKE
A WISE MAN SAID IN THE SUMMER - Yes,
it will be Throckmorton and Valley for the title in Shotwell
Stadium in Abilene on Saturday at 6PM. Stay tuned for a full
week of useless information and stats on the game. Here's
the basic skinny from
both teams and the tale
of the tape for both towns.
PLAYOFF
RAMBLE, REALLY - I
finally put one together. It only took me 24 hours, but
I did it.... don't expect too much.
RICK
REILLY BLASTS HERC - Rick
Reilly of Sports Illustrated adds to the list of those
piling on the Herc Palmquist story. It is online for subscribers
or in the December 5 edition.
HOUSTON
TEXAS CHRISTIAN COACH SUSPENDED - On
the message board is a press release from TAPPS and various
explanations of how Texas Christian coach Herc Palmquist has
been suspended for using college players in a high school
game last week.LINK.
Here is Coach Pamquist's
letter to parents at HTC. I would also suggest you read
the response
from the NYOS coaches.
BARRETT
IN AMARILLO GLOBE - The
Amarillo Globe-News has a great
article on Valley's Cody Barrett and his return this season
from an ACL injury.
SIX-MAN
TO BE DIVIDED INTO TWO DIVISIONS - The
UIL has just released the results of the superintendent vote.

THE
GLOBE HAS OUR BACK - The
Globe-News is doing a two-part series on the new changes made
by the UIL and how they will effect six-man football... day

SORTING
OUT DISTRICT SIX - I
have posted a message on the possibilities
for district six.
updated after week nine.
MY
THOUGHTS ON TWO CHAMPIONS - In
what appears to be one of the most controversial decisions
in recent history, the UIL has approved a Division I and Division
II six-man playoff scenerio. I
have added my thoughts, as well as a plan. Also check
out others' thoughts on the message
board. I have changed this link because so many topics
have been started.
SIX-MAN
IN THE COMICS - My brother saw this in today's newspaper.
Six-man football
makes it to the comic section. If it disappears, I'll
post it here.
FAITH
NO MORE - I
have deleted all games played by the team formerly known as
Waxahachie Faith. They are a club team not affiliated with
the school and thus any game played against them is a scrimmage.
UIL teams that complete against them face possible sanctions
and I do not know how TAPPS will treat them. I came to this
decision after some research on Monday which included contacting
the school and the UIL.
EXCELLENT-
I
have updated the rankings to include EP School of Excellence.
It is a charter school and thus UIL-eligible.
SAMNORWOOD
EARNS GLOBE-NEWS HONOR- The
Samnorwood Eagles were named
the Team of the Week by the Amarillo Globe-News for their
big win over Follett last weekend.
FOOTBALL
IS FOR GIRLS - Paint
Creek, the alma mater of Governor Rick Perry, has been suiting
up just seven players this year. Of the seven, two are girls,
sisters Alice and Ariel Blair. Alice, a sophomore, played
every down in Paint Creek's 61-55 win over Moran last week.
AUSTIN
NYOS IN FLUX - Austin
NYOS must cancel all games versus public schools. Therefore
their game with Prairie Lea has been cancelled. They are eligible
to play private schools.
KELLNER
INELIGIBLE - Wes
Kellner of Ira was denied his appeal by the UIL Executive
Committee. Read my comments at two places on the message board.

LUEDERS
CANCELS - Lueders
has cancelled their game this week with Patton Springs. It
has been rumored that the head coach has left and they are
short on players. They were going to play their non-distict
schedule and try to finish up as a junior varsity squad in
district, if they have the numbers. Fruitvale has officially
moved to play an outlaw 11-man schedule and will make the
move full-time in 2006. Spade and Dallas Gateway also cancelled
their football seasons. Fort Elliott did not play this year
or last.
SIX-MAN
HITS NEW YORK TIMES - Carlton
Stowers, author of the new book, Where Dreams Die Hard, was
asked to do an op-ed piece on six-man football for the New
York Times. It appears on inside back page of section A of
Saturday's paper.
SIX-MAN
TV SHOW IN METROPLEX - A
couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be part of a TV
show in Dallas on Carlton Stowers book, Where Dreams Die Hard.
It will be shown several times, starting
this week...
NEW

to New Home, which was selected as one of 12 schools chosen
as the 2005 H-E-B Pharmacy-UIL Community Service Award winners
and runners-up. Read entire release.
RANKINGS
ARE HERE - The
2005 sixmanfootball.com public
school rankings are here. You may notice a few changes
from what I predicted in DCTF, but that's the nature of the
beast.
LORENZO
TO PLAY SIX-MAN - Lorenzo
has moved to the ranks of six-man football under coach Kyle
Hauk. They will play an outlaw schedule in 2005 and are looking
for games.
IRA
PLAYER PASSES AWAY - Ira
junior Jared Bailey passed away this afternon in Lubbock after
a swimming accident over the weekend. Message
board is updating on information. The thoughts of the
entire six-man community are with Ira and the Bailey family.
COMPOSITE
SCHEDULE POSTED- The
composite schedule is posted and
it is pretty close to complete. I have a list
of scrimmages I got when the scehdules came in (not updated).
If there are changes, please e-mail your schedule to me at
granger@sixmanfootball.com.
Private school coaches can continue posting to the message
board at this link.
ON
THE AIR - Have
you had a chance to listen to the six-man state championship
game? If not, check out the archived
recording from KBAL and the IBN. A word of advice: the
first 44 minutes is music and you can skip ahead.
2004-2005
UIL REALIGNMENTS - The new
realignments have been announced. I will comment more
on what I think later.
