TRACK AND FIELD QUALIFIERS - The
UIL State Track and Field Meet will be in Austin on May 14-15.

from six-man football schools.
WELLMAN-UNION
TAKES POWERLIFTING CROWN - The Wellman-Union Wildcats
captured the Division II(1A-3A) State Powerlifting Championship
this past weekend at The University of Houston. J.R. Tankersley
of W-U, Felipe Escobedo of W-U and Clifton Baker from Strawn
each won their individual classifcations.

GRADY
WINS DIVISION II BASKETBALL TITLE - The Grady Wildcats
defeated Neches, 55-49, Thursday morning in Austin to win
the Class A Division II state basketball title. Photos

ON MULLIN EX-PLAYER CHARLIE SMITH - The Dallas Morning
News had another six-man article from Bryan Woolley. This
one was on Mullin former player, Charlie Smith, who is suffering
from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). (Link no longer works) Bryan
Woolley grew up in Fort Davis and has many excellent books
and stories, including several that include six-man. To

STRAWN
WINS TITLE - The Strawn Greyhounds won the 2003 six-man
state title over the Fort Davis Indians, 67-62. Check out

It was the highest scoring game in six-man title history,
surpassing the 72-48, 1995 Amherst win over Milford.
REGENTS
THREE PEATS - The Austin Regents Knights three-peat
in TAPPS 2A.
HAPPY
HILL ROLLS TO TAPPS 1A TITLE - Happy Hill Academy
once again rolled to the TAPPS Division 1A title.

RANKINGS ANNOUNCED - After much delay, the preseason
sixmanfootball.com rankings
have been posted.
SEASONS
BEING CANCELLED- First Marathon, then it looks like
Morgan will, now Sidney has cancelled their season. Coach
Jerry Miller, one of the winningest six-man coaches of all-time,
notified sixmanfootball.com that the Eagles only had four
players out for football.
WEST
GRABS NARROW WIN OVER EAST - In one of the best six-man
all-star games in recent memory, the West
grabbed a narrow 36-28 win over the East in Lubbock.
HOSKINS
LEAVES WHITHARRAL - Head Coach Ken Hoskins has left
Whitharral to take over the same position at Garden City,
effective immediately. Garden City will play the 2003 season
in 11-man, but will move to six-man in the next realignment
beginning in 2004.
SIX-MAN
NUMBER TO INCREASE - When the next realignment comes
out for the 2004-05 seasons, the cutoff number will increase
to 99.5 from the current 94.5, the UIL's Legislative Council
