in their first-ever title game. Whitharral enters the game
as a 5-point favorite. See the summary the amazing RS-Woodson
game Friday under Score

SIX-MAN
MOVIE TO PREMIER AT SUNDANCE - A dramatization about six-man
football in Montana will premier at the Sundance Film Festival
in Park City, Utah next month. The
Slaughter Rule is the story of a fatherless teenager in
rural Montana finds solace with a young woman, his mother,
and a repressed football coach who recruits him to quarterback
a six-man football team...STANDINGS - Final district
standings.

CALVERT
EDGES HIGHLAND FOR CALI TITLE - The Calvert Trojans held
off the Highland Hornets, 34-32 Friday in Redlands, California
4th grade six-man championship (Cougar Bowl IV). A group saw
the website and have formed a 4th grade recess flag six-man
league. They are actually even using real Texas teams... see
the rules and the results of league play
LOMETA
MAKES IT OFFICIAL - The Lometa Hornets, who last
played six-man in 1993 voted last week to drop back down.
Lometa reached the quarterfinals in '93, falling to eventual
champion Panther Creek.
MORAN
FORFEITING DISTRICT GAMES - Moran has elected to
forfeit their district games and play a JV schedule though
the rest of the district. Some teams will be playing a few
varsity players in limited action in some instances. It is
all fairly confusing, but for ranking purposes, I will be
considering those games as JV.
SIERRA
BLANCA CANCELS SEASON - Sierra Blanca has announced
that they will not play any football games this season. The
Vaqueros had forfeited all of their games so far.
LAZBUDDIE
EX PLAYING BIG AT WTAMU - Adam St. Clair, a former star
at Lazbuddie, is the leading tackler for the West Texas A&M
Buffaloes. St. Clair has 21 solo tackles, as well as 36 assists
and an interception. The Buffs are 2-4 and face TAMU-Commerce
this weekend. They also reassigned their head coach yesterday,
Stan McGarvey, for after the season. Also on the squad are
Groom's Grant Weinheimer, Ira's Logan Daves and Happy's Jared
Hammett, who has a pair of solo tackles and eight assists.
WHITHARRAL
TO BE ON XTRA - The top-ranked Whitharral Panthers will
be featured on this week's High School Xtra. The show will
air Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on Fox Sports Net Southwest.
CAMPBELL
TEARING IT UP AT DARTMOUTH - Gordon's Lyle Campbell, who
led the Longhorns to the 1999 state six-man title, has been
big on defense for the Big Green after three games. Dartmouth
is currently 1-2 after a win at the famous Yale Bowl this
past Sunday. Sunday's 32-27 win culminated a weeklong celebration
of Yale's 300th anniversary. I hope to have some accurate
statistics on Lyle soon, as the school's website is not quite
up-to-date.
FORT
DAVIS TO GO SIX-MAN - Add Ft. Davis to the list of six-man
schools next season. The board voted 7-0 to join the ever-growing
ranks of six-man.
FOLLETT
FORFEITS TWO GAMES - It has been reported to sixmanfootball.com
that the Follett Panthers have had to forfeit two games (Happy,
Greenville Christian) this season due to using an ineligible
player. The player in question apparently is ineligible due
to the parent-resident rule. It does not effect their ranking
because the games were actually played. Their record has been
changed to reflect the forfeits.
WEAVER
MAKES A DIFFERENCE (10/5)- Be sure to catch this weekend's
High School Xtra on Fox Sports Southwest, as Aquilla coach
Benny Weaver has been named this week's "Coach That Makes
a Difference". The show will air Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
THE
ONE-MINUTE INTERVIEW, a new feature at sixmanfootball.com,
takes a look at one of the smaller guys on the biggest teams
in the state, Whitharral's Rocky
Reyna.
The
Six-Man Extravaganza was quite a success in Milford Saturday,
as the state's top-ranked Whitharral
Panthers crushed fifth-ranked Calvert, 48-0. In the second
game, Oglesby topped Blum, 60-16.
The finale was "The Game That Would Never End",
as Iredell outlasted host Milford,
92-54.
